I live in an independent living apartment. I am still very active but I have AMD. I had been relying on my sons for a lot of my reading – things like newspapers and medication bottles. Finding out about Dr. Metzger I was very determined to find a way to regain some independence. During my exam I tried a bunch of different magnifiers but none of them seemed to fit my needs completely, and I had trouble using some of them well. I finally tried a Merlin, which is a fancy TV with a camera, and that is now my new best friend. With it I can read everything, including my hometown newspaper. I can also use my Merlin to see to do things like change batteries in my hearing aid. I haven’t felt this happy in a long time.
